Coming of Age

In Vienna, during WWII, having lost their livelihoods, family members and friends from the holocaust, the Jellineks left for the safety of the United States to start a new life in New York. Spending time at the Cloisters became a ritual; gathering for tea afterwards to mourn the losses and reminisce their lives and loved ones they left behind.

Roberta, the first generation American born in the United States shortly after, learned in time of the prejudices of Europe, the horrors of the holocaust and emerged from the tragedy of the past with an intense innocence. She discovered herself through her compassion for others, her spirituality, a love of dance, travel, and relationships.

Enriched by her past, and tied to her history, she steps onto the stage of new beginnings, coming of age.
